Mechanics Hate Us

We recently had our 2003 Ford Explorer in the shop. We had the transmission lines repaired and the transmission fluid filled and the coolant filled. We noticed this sound as soon as we picked it up from the shop, as well as the service engine soon light on. Our truck doesnt have a vibration or anything it just has a loud roaring noise. It kinda resembles the sound a helicopter makes. Please help!!

Don’t know. But you could try it yourself. AutoZone will loan u the specialty tools to do it. It’s a forked looking metal tool you wack with a hammer to pop the ball joint loose and a clamp thingy to install the new one. Save some $$.

A couple of days in the shop. Its a major pain. You should replace both head gaskets,with better aftermarket gaskets. Fords are crap.

Rebalancing would be extra unless you went back to the shop that sold you the lifetime free flat repair/wheel balancing…

How do I know that the heater coil has gone bad? Could it just be a bad hose? Symptoms: A steam-like moisture blasts out of the heating/AC vents when I turn on the heat or AC. All of the windows fog up. Smell of anti-freeze in the car.

A few weeks ago I believe the gaskets in my engine blew out. My Car was overheating. When I tried to cool the engine off by turning the heater on full blast, it only blew out cold air. Finally my car overheated so much it started smoking really badly. I changed my oil and put water and anti freeze. Now my car doesn’t run and rattles. If anyone can give me an accurate generalized estimate of how much it would cost to repair the engine and any other theories on what is wrong with my car. I would totally appreciate it.

Because your car is 8 years old the auto wreckers and scrap yards would have used ones available for $30-$40.00. The Ford Dealer would charge you the shop rate which would be too expensive and wants to use new parts. If you are handy and have tools it is fixable by the backyard mechanic.A do it yourselfer looking for extra money would probably charge $100.00. and it really isn’t necessary to hire a licenced mechanic for this job and you will not have to pay out an extra $300.00 or more

I have been told that the bed is constructed of fiberglass. Is this true. And if so, can it be repaired. Damage occurred to left side of bed and almost made it impossible to reach gas tank opening.
